Welcome to our very first Word Nerd Wednesday! Our aim with these mini-posts is simple: introduce you to an uncommon word we love, and give you a prompt to help you put it to use. Sometimes, we'll define the word for you. Other times, we'll ask you to write a poem based on what you think the word means; if you already know the definition (or you looked it up like a cheater), we'll ask you to create a new definition for the word in question. Without further ado, let's begin!
We will not be defining the word. Some steps to get you started:
1. Use the Word of the Day to inspire you: free write for ten minutes, sketch a drawing, write a list of words that sound similar to the Word of the Day, etc.
2. Compose a poem (one page or less).
3. Use the Word of the Day as your poem's title
You may look up the definition of the Word of the Day after your poem is completely finished. The correlation between the actual definition and the poem you crafted based on your own inferences may surprise you.
Like the result of this prompt? Submit your poem to us, or leave it in the comments below. Don't forget to add "acrospire" to your word list and share it with your friends!
