Just for Fun: Is it Poetry, or is it Rap?

If you've visited our little poetry blog often, you know we're more than a little amused by bro poetry. One of our very first blog posts was about Edgar Allan Bro. Then we found the bro haiku. And then we stumbled upon this little gem.

(No, Kanye's not the gem we're speaking of. Keep scrolling.)

For today's dose of hilarity, we have a challenge for you, courtesy of Book Riot: can you tell if these lines come from a rap song, or from a poem?

Ready? Test yo' self and hope you don't wreck yo' self. (Shoddy work, we know.)

1. “Remember we were so young
When I would hold you
Before the blood on the leaves”

2. “I was saying it to stop
the sensation of falling off
the round, turning world
into cold, blue-black space”

3. “Freedom a drug that’s bought and sold
Giving to steal and cruel kind,
a heart to fear, to doubt a mind”

4. “The soul’s escaping through this hole that is gaping
This world is mine for the taking
Make me king”

5. “It is deadly, terrifying
It is the Inquisition, the
Revolution
It is beauty itself”

How do you think you did? Think you got a perfect score? Take the rest of the quiz and check your answers over on Book Riot. Don't say we didn't warn you.
